Our Review
This hotel is a little off the beaten track, which makes it ideal for those who would like to take advantage of the lower prices & quieter streets, yet is is only five minutes' walk to Via Veneto. The standard of service in is excellent, as is the overall atmosphere. This is the hotel our own staff stay in when visiting Rome.
A modern, good quality hotel suitable for business and leisure travellers alike, the Oxford makes an ideal base from which to explore Rome. The large welcoming lobby leads to the lounge and cocktail bar, with plenty of plush seating and a piano for evening entertainment. Décor in the hotel is warm toned in pinks and yellows and the overall feel is one of class. Guests may make use of the Internet terminal in the lobby area (there is a small charge for this and access cards can be bought at the reception). Adjacent to the lounge and dining room there is a small lift taking you to the guestrooms.
There are 58 guestrooms in total, all of which have been recently refurbished and are spotlessly clean. Décor is standard throughout and is in elegant tones of gold and green. Rooms feature blackout curtains and the usual array of amenities you would expect from a hotel of this standard, including air conditioning, mini bar and safety deposit box (for which there is no charge). Bathrooms are clean and modern with marble fittings and tiled walls and have a selection of complimentary toiletries for guests' use.
The cocktail bar, just off the lobby, is a relaxing place where you can enjoy a drink after a busy day. It specializes in friendly service and produces a huge range of tasty cocktails as well as coffees and light snacks.
The tastefully decorated restaurant doubles as a breakfast room offering a large buffet breakfast with hot food cooked to order. Breakfast is available from 7.00am until 10.00am and dinner from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Dining is quite formal and cuisine is traditional Mediterranean.
There are also a large number of restaurants within a few minutes' walk of the hotel and the staff are always ready to make recommendations. There are a number of metered car parking spaces nearby and the hotel also has an arrangement with a local garage where valet parking is available.
