We had an internal room with no natural daylight which was very dissapointing. Although we did ask to change there was no other rooms available. The window over looked a corridor which made it very dark!

I may recommend this hotel but did feel it was slightly overpriced at £120 per night. I have stayed in five star London hotels for this amount of money which were far superior. However, I understand that Rome is an expensive place to stay and ultimately I was not displeased with the hotel, just not overly impressed for the money. I also think that the hotel tried to pull a fast one by telling us that our room was not ready on checkin but that we could "upgrade" for an additional 50 or 100 euro per night (deluxe room and suite respectively) We declined after seeing the rooms and unless we were justlucky our standard room was no different to the "deluxe room" we had been shown - I wonder if they had always intended to give us this room but were hoping they could charge a bit more for it?

I don't no if we scored lucky but this was the BEST hotel i have stayed at so far. On first impressions it was fab! out room was like a tiny apartment a upstaris and downstairs, the room service was well and the staff were very friendly when we wanted to check out places in giving directions. The hotel has an amazing roof top restaraunt which i was totally amazed by beacause at night the view was amazing! A perfect way to end the night. However there is a 5 euro service charge so that was kinda off putting every time we went. but overall its a fab hotel to stay at. Being a student i have to say it was just my type, it was a sleek and trendy hotel with te touch of being home!!

La griffe, is situated five mins away from the Termini station which is the main place if you wanna go to other places, its a quite area and not many tourists. i strongly suggest that if yu want to get the feel of rome and not be surrounded by other tourists its the best place to be. unlike the spanish steps which is constantly surrounded by tourists and kinda offputting for me. At night theres cafe's in a place 2 mins away in a place called repulicca where u can just enjoy a coffee even at 1am! Its not far from many tourist spots and the metro is literally a walk up the road to get anywhere you like. on arrival you will recieve a map, the places that amazed us were: Piaza navona, vatican city, colleseum, the church on via dell corso, the shopping on via dell corso, the miltary place, (which name i hav forgot sorry) and piazza de popolo! to be hoenst i think the trevi fountain was nice but rather overblown as the sapce was tight and tooo many people around it. i would say the same for the spanish steps, but thats totally my opinion but i would still say they worth checking out! Hope you enjoy your stay!!

Although the hotel itself was clean and tidy, on our arrival we were given a room with no window and told we could upgrade to a superior room for an extra 150 euros which we did. The reason given for the lack of window was that we had booked the hotel over the internet which was at a special price. However, we were not made aware of this at the time of booking over the phone. Nevertheless, given the location and general standard of the hotel I would recommend it to others. One other thing, the breakfast was ok but nothing spectacular.

You MUST see the colloseum and Roman Forum as they are both amazing. I would recommend joining a tour to see these as they are extremely informative and fun. I would recommend trying to walk around the city rather that taking the metro as you see more and stumble upon attractions you probably wouldn't see. Just one thing, be aware that every wednesday it is an audience with the pope so you will queue for hours if you want to visit St. Peters and the Sistine Chapel. We enjoyed our trip to Rome and would definetly go again. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at and we didn't have a bad meal the whole time we were there.

Hotel La Griffe is ideally situated near to the Termini which is an ideal way to get around, it is also within walking distance to many of the most popular sites, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Via Condotti. Staff here were very friendly, welcoming and on hand for recommending good places to eat and booking transport when needed. The room was clean and equiped with everything we needed (including a girls best friend....a magnifying mirror in the bathroom). Couldn't fault the hotel in any way other than they could make better use of the wonderful roof terrace with its views over the city, maybe the weather had something to do with it! Rain does put people off from venturing outside...but not we Brits!!

A must is the Trevi Fountain, Sistene Chapel, Via Condotti (just to window shop obviously not to spend money) and St Peter's to see the Pope on a Wednesday morning was an awesome experience....& I'm not religious, it's one of those once in a lifetime things. Best way to get around is the Metro, scarey at first for two women travellers but fast, efficient and best of all..cheap! Eating., well, anywhere that sells pizza & pasta is fine by me.

Obviously paid a budget price and had a room which unfortunately didn't have an outside window. Blessing and a curse. Curse because not able to get fresh air. But blessing given it would have opened onto the street and the noise day and night from the traffic is pretty bad. They like to honk a horn!

Trattorria Tritone (recommended by reception at hotel) not far from the Trevi fountain was very good. Very friendly and reasonable price.
If visiting the Vatican advise trying to reserve a space ahead of time and thereby avoiding the v.v.long queue (unless you get up at the crack of dawn). See Vatican website for fax number. I managed to reserve a spot and at 10am on the day walked past a queue of about 10,000 people straight to the head of the queue and went straight in.

THE WORST BREAKFAST WE HAVE HAD IN OUR WEEKEND BREAKS. COFFEE AND TEA DISGUSTING AND NOT EVEN CARTON FRUIT JUICE AND THERE WERE ORANGES ON THE TREES AROUND THE CITY. ONE CEREAL ONLY AND CHOICE OF COFFEE OR BANANA YOGURT.
GOOD COFFEE IN THE BAR.
